Unannounced Game Project
2023 - Ongoing

Lead Pixel Artist, Animator (Remote)

I am currently working as the lead pixel artist and animator for all of the characters, environments, enemies and UI on a small indie project being produced by a small team of five based around the world.I am unable to share details and images at this time but I look forward to sharing news later this year!

Game Project: WindSwept2019 - Ongoing

Pixel Artist (Remote)

Creating asset's for the cutest 2D platformer coming in 2025 which follows the tale of Checkers and Marbles! The art work shown below is just a glimpse at the asset's used to create the world of Windswept and will continue to expand and grow each day.Coming onto this project after already being in a year or two in development meant I had big shoes to fill. I was tasked with matching what was already there, yet also to improve upon it. Taking rough briefs and ideas and turning them into living worlds is what I enjoy most and I am certain it is heading in the right direction.

With Windswept being a modern twist on popular classic platformers such as Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong Country, aiming to keep it's world within the art direction of such huge titles is a tough cookie to crack. Balancing the retro and nostalgic feel of a traditional platformer yet with a sprinkle of modernism is something that makes Windswept and its art unique. Each level is mindfully curated and handcrafted to be a challenge yet keep a flowing design throughout. Similar to the originals using tilesets and parallax backgrounds, Windswept is successful in mimicking and emulating the classic retro style in this modern day.

2023 Benched Game Asset's
and Concept Art

Pixel Artist, Concept Artist, Animator (Remote)

This unannounced project is currently benched and not longer in production. The work shown was early and rough concepts, animations for a possible main character and environments.Even though this project might be benched and never be played, I really enjoyed the aspects of working with the team and building something we were all so passionate about. Instead, we decided to shift visions and we are working on another passion project that is smaller in scope and is currently proceeding well.I learnt a lot of valuable lessons from this short project such as efficient work/pipeline management, meaningful communication with the team and overall developed my drawing/animating abilities.Working on the current unannounced project, I feel confident with my work-flow and drawing skills that I might not have had without this project to set as a stepping stone.

Unannounced Game Asset's
2022

Environment Artist (Remote)

Trial work for an isometric pixel art game. Showcasing the process of the work from reference collecting to final details.

Looking at a collection of references of relevant real world objects and existing medium is a method I employ and always do as a part of my process. This helps with grounding my vision of a project and showcases to other's my vision of what I plan to do.

Game Project: Asterisk!
Ludumdare April 2021

Pixel Artist (Remote)

Ludumdare is a huge online Game Jam event that was my second ever game project. In a team of seven and being the only artist, this 72 hour project was a challenge but a great opportunity to work with a larger group and focus on learning modular and reuseable tiles without making the world seem 'copy and paste.'

Asterisk is a downward-digging adventure where you are the only thing that isn't valuable. Aim to be the best at the Dig Deep Inc. and earn as much as you can by selling ancient relics from the past. But be careful, there are explosive bombs looking to end your adventure.

Commission Work:Twitch Emotes and Sub badges

2018 - 2022

After graduating from University, I took a couple of years to pursue freelance commission work and twitch streaming. I became a partner on twitch after 1 year on the platform and by this point, I had established a strong following and customer base to provide other new or already partnered streamers with pixel art emotes and sub badges.Being limited to the small size of 18x18 for badges and 28x28 for emotes, presented it's challenges of capturing the object or expression but in return, I often find myself favouring and enjoying smaller canvas/sprite work as having too many pixels to work with can hinder the look of the art work.

Commission Work:Twitch Starting and Ending Screens

2018 - 2022

Commissions on this scale are completed in usually a couple of weeks or more depending on the current slots. Providing references and ideas for the sceen is key for making the commission smooth and fluid for both client and commissioner.

For this client, they requested a 480x270 pixel scene and to have the main focus on their two animal crossing characters. Being surrounded by their cute, scary greenhouse, my vision was to have the characters working in their laboratory, mixing potions and stirring the cauldron.

Each scene will have important and key stages/steps that I follow,
:Early Sketch
- Focusing on Composition and Depth.
-Establishing main characters/focal points.
:Refining/preparing for details
- Focus on refining details/characters for rendering.
- Establishing a colour palette/ Setting the mood of the piece.
- Last composition adjustments if needed.
:Final Refinement
- Last details
:Animation (If applicable)
